Private Samuel George Glenister (Service No:V112674) served in the ACMF with 8 Battalion (Vic) VDC from 17 March 1941 to 15 December 1942. Private Glenister was transferred to the Civil Construction Corps (Allied Works Council; Service No:CV123069) where he worked as a Spaller (stone breaker) in quarries.(The Civil Construction Corps was a civilian based workforce created during WWII for militray construction works).

Sam was born in Maryborough, Victoria in 1921, second of eleven children of Hector Henry Glenister (b1897 in Beaufort, Victoria) and Martha Louisa George (b1898 in Beaufort, Victoria). Hector was a Labourer in 1918 when he and Martha married in Beaufort where they settled and raised their family and Hector was a Labourer and Farmer.

Sam worked as a Blacksmith in Beaufort before his enlistment and following his Discharge was in Beaufort in 1945 when he married Constance (Connie) Jean Gooding (b1923 in Beaufort, Victoria). Sam and Connie settled in Beaufort where they raised their family and Sam was a Labourer/Shire Employee before retiring to Ballarat. Sam died in 1993 and Connie in 1996.
