Private Gordon Ryan (Service No:W84741) served in the ACMF with 6th Battalion and 12th Battalion (Jarrah) VDC from 20 May 1942 to 31 July 1944 (Reserves List).

Gordon was born in York, Western Australia in 1910, youngest of two children of Oliver Ryan (b1873 in Wagga Wagga, NSW) and Ellen Louisa Coles (b1872 in York, Western Australia) - Ellen had a son Wilfred, born in 1900. Oliver was working as a Saddler in 1907 when he and Ellen married and settled in York, where they raised their family and Oliver worked as a Saddler and Grazier. By 1917 the family had settled in Kojonup, where Oliver was a Saddler and Harness Maker and a Farmer.

Gordon was a Farmer on 'River Bends' in Kojonup, and in 1938 in Katanning married Freda Margaret Gibbs (b1913 in Albany, Western Australia). Gordon and Freda settled in Kojonup, where they raised their family and Gordon was a Farmer. Freda died in 1991 and Gordon in 1992.
