Lance Corporal Arty Vivian Henderson (Service No:W70785) served in the ACMF with 5 and 14 Battalions VDC from 26 April 1942 to 31 July 1944 (Reserves List). Brothers Gordon, Don and Bert also served in the ACMF.

Arty was born in Boyup Brook, Western Australia in 1920, youngest of seven children of William John Henderson (b1876 in Natumuk, Victoria) and Elsie May Nash (b1883 in Goolwa, South Australia). In 1900 William was a Carter in Mildura, where he and Elsie married. By 1904 the family had moved to Western Australia, where they lived briefly in Perth then settled at Scotts Brook via Boyup Brook, where they raised their family and William was a Farmer.

Arty was a Farmer in Boyup Brook in 1941 when, in Blackwood, he married Gwendoline (Gwen) Nellie Johnson (b1917 in Adelaide, South Australia (Gwen's sister Melba married Arty's older brother Bert). Arty and Gwen settled in Boyup Brook, where they raised their family and Arty was a Farmer. Arty died in 1985 and Gwen in 2007.
