Private Irvine John Guy (Service No:V69139) served with 6th Battalion from 21 March to 29 December 1941 - Reserved Occupation.

Irvine was born in Portland, Victoria in 1913, third of seven children of William Gilbert Guy (b1887 in Portland, Victoria) and Hannah Nicholson (b1888 in Great Western, Grampians, Victoria). William (a Fisherman) and Hannah married in 1909 in Portland, where they settled and raised their family and William was a Fisherman. In 1917 the family moved to Stawell, where William worked as a Fishmonger and Coach Driver before moving to Melbourne in the early 1940s - William worked as a Labourer.

Irvine had 'No Occupation' (Electoral Rolls) through the 1930s in Stawell, and by 1941 when the family was settled in Melbourne, Irvine worked as a Textile Spinner. In 1942 in Melbourne, he married Veronica Kane (b1920 in Warrnambool, Victoria), and by the mid 1940s, irvine and Veronica had settled in Warrnambool, where they raised their family and Irvine was a Presser and Factory Worker. Irvine died in 1991 and Veronica in 2001.
