Robert George Mutch was born on 19th of November 1922 in Harrow Victoria, He was the son of David George Mutch and Nora Mutch, he was one of twelve children. Robert attended Douglas Primary School in Victoria. Post schooling, he worked as a labourer / rabbit catcher before enlisting into the military forces at the age of 19 years. He enlisted into the Australian Army in Horsham Victoria as a Private.

During his time in the military forces Robert first served in World War two enlisting on 16/10/1941 in Horsham Victoria, and his second posting was the Korean War on the 28/09/1950 to 18/04/1952 Corps Royal Australian Infantry Corps Unit 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment.

Whilst serving in the Korean War Robert met and Married Yasuko Yokoyama whilst deployed in Japan, they married twice once in the Japanese Embassy on 23/10/1952 and the second marriage in Japan at the Australian Embassy on 19/11/1952.


Post the Korean war Robert discharged from the Army on 17/07/1953, Robert and his wife Yasuko returned to Victoria Australia and began life as husband and wife, settling into their home in Balmoral where Yasuko remains living to date.


Robert returned to work as a labourer / rabbit catcher, they had a family of 4 children David George born on 29/09/1954, Marie Anne born on 23/10/1956, Lesley James born on 5/03/1958 and Susanne Margaret born 6/04/1960.


Robert’s hobbies included Gardening with a love of Roses, He had many roses planted around his home garden, he had a large pond at the front of his home that he had made with a wooden bridge over the pond, he would spend many hours out in his garden. Apiarists where he would keep bees for their honey production, He had many large beehives around his property that all the family participate in collecting the honey. His Eldest Son David keeps bees
today and his family benefit from the honey supplied.

Robert lived out his final days in Balmoral Victoria in the family home until his passing of a stroke (Age related) on 25/08/2010 aged 87years and 9months
