(Mary Tyrell’s family built original Mountain View Hotel, Whitfiled - still in operation 2022.

James Whitty's sister was Eleanor Lucy (Ellen) Evans (nee Whitty) born 1852 died 20-10-1935  she was known as Aunt Ellen.  Two of Ellen's sons fought in WWI, Capt Gerald Evans MC (8th Bn, DoW 20/9/1917 - Menin Rd) and Pte Francis (Ken) Evans (51st Bn, KIA 13/10/1917, 1st Passchendaele).  See attached letters for references.  It is possible that Harry met both Gerald and Ken in France.
