Private Oliver Lindsay Ryan (Service No:W71444) served in the ACMF with 6th Battalion VDC from 12 April 1942 to 31 December 1944 (Reserves List).

Oliver was born in York, Western Australia in 1908, eldest of two children of Oliver Ryan Snr (b1873 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales) and Ellen Louisa Coles (b1872 in York, Western Australia). Oliver Snr (a Saddler) and Ellen (a single mother with a seven year old son) married in Perth in 1907, and lived in York, where Oliver Snr was a Saddler and Grazier. By 1917 Oliver and Ellen had moved to Kojonup, where they settled and raised their family and Oliver Snr was a Saddler and Harness Maker and a Farmer.

Oliver worked as a Labourer in Kojonup, and in 1935 in Katanning married Phyllis Mary Kelly (b1912 in Katanning, Western Australia). Oliver and Phyllis settled in Kojonup, where they raised their family and Oliver worked as a Labourer, Farmer and Mail Contractor. In the 1950s Oliver and Phyllis moved to Perth, before settling at Mundijong in the 1960s - Oliver was a Farmer -  returning to Perth in the 1970s for retirement. Oliver died in 1995 and Phyllis in 2002.
