Private Harold Edward Hale (Service No:W70782) served in the ACMF with 5th and 14th Battalions VDC from 5 July 1942 to 15 October 1945.

Harold was born in Nathalia, Victoria in 1903, eldest of two children of John Edward (aka Edward) Hale (b1861 in Sandridge, Port Melbourne, Victoria) and his second wife Mabel Clark (b1870 in Kyneton, Victoria). Edward (a Widow with three young daughters) and Mabel married in 1902 in Yalca, where they settled and raised their family and Edward was a Farmer. By 1910 the family had moved to Western Australia, where Edward was one of the earliest settlers - a Farmer - in the Kulikup area.

Harold was a Farmer in Kulikup, and in 1932 in Blackwood married his first wife Lilian May Chambers (b1905 in Bridgetown, Western Australia). Harold and Lilian settled in Kulikup, where they raised their family and Harold was a Farmer. Following Lilian's death in 1968, Harold remarried in 1969 in Katanning to Charlotte Emily Harriet Jilley (nee Gibbs; b1904 in Kojonup, Western Australia). Harold and Charlotte lived in Kulikup - Harold died in 1983 and Charlotte in 1999.
