Private Maxwell Stewart Lamb (Service No:V363260) served with the ACMF (21 Battalion VDC) from 30 January 1942 to 17 September 1945. Siblings Milton, Frank and Jack also served in WWII as did father William.

Born in Foster, Victoria in 1911, Max was third of six children of William Andrew Lamb (b1880 in Geelong, Victoria) and Amy Stella Dolphin (b1879 in Chewton, Victoria). William (a Machinist) and Amy married in 1907 and lived in Foster where William worked as a Carrier. Following his service in WWI (Private; Service No:6050) the family moved to Barrabool where William was granted land under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act 1917-1919. William and Amy settled in Barrabool where they raised their family and William worked as a Farmer and Labourer before retiring to Geelong. William also served in WWII with the ACMF.

Max worked for the Bank of NSW as a Teller and Clerk and was in Echuca, Bendigo in 1942 when he enlisted in the ACMF - in 1939 in Melbourne he had married  Sheila McDougall (b1915 in Seymour, Victoria). Max and Sheila lived in Shepparton, Frankston and Melbourne where they raised their family and Max worked as a Bank Officer and Bank Manager. Max and Sheila retired to Wallington nr Geelong - Sheila died in 1989 and Max in 2002.
