DEATH OF A RETURNED
SOLDIER.—Mr. Clarence H. Fischer, who died at his residence, Balaklava, on Sunday morning, September 3, was the second son of Mr. C. G. Fischer, of Two Wells. Much sympathy has been expressed for the bereaved relatives. He enlisted from Two Wells in July, 1916, at the age of 21 years, and served with the 50th Battalion, A.I.F., for 2½ years abroad. He was once wounded and was also gassed in France, the latter being the cause of his long illness. He returned to Australia by the "Wandilla" in April, 1919, having served for nearly 3½ years with the forces altogether. A good number of friends and relations attended the funeral, the Rev. T. Owen officiating at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs. J. Tippett, T. Murphy, Geo. Swan, E. Simon, C. Moody, and H. E. Bowden. The deceased leaves a sorrowing wife (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Brown, Balaklava) to mourn the sad loss. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. Brebner & Keefe, Ltd.
