"THE LATE DRIVER W. KENNY.
Mr. W. Kenny of Currie street, city, has been notified that his second son, Driver William Kenny, of the 27th Battalion, was killed in action on October 4, 1917. He enlisted in January, 1915, and sailed for Egypt in May of the same year. He fought on Gallipoli and the Somme, where he was wounded and sent back to England. Having recovered, he had just returned to the trenches when he was killed. The deceased soldier, prior to enlistment, was employed by Geo. P. Harris, Scarfe, & Co., and was esteemed and respected by all. -R.I.P." - from the Adelaide Southern Cross 02 Nov 1917 (nla.gov.au)
