Warrant Officer II Clement Leo Moroney (Service No:Nx52788) enlisted in the AIF on 4 July 1940 as a Private attached to 9 Battalion, transferred to 8th Division RAE and appointed A/Corporal. In November 1940 he transferred to 2/15 Field Coy, and embarked from Sydney for the Middle East on 3 February 1941. Staff Sergeant Moroney embarked on 20 April 1942 from the Middle East for Port Adelaide, and was posted to Larrimah NT in from June to August 1942. Appointed Warrant Officer II on 17 August 1943, he was attached to HQ Base Ammuninition Depot (BAD), and was attached to 2/15 Field Coy at Discharge on 15 October 1945.

Clem was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1907, second of nine children of Richard (Dick) Moroney (b1885 in Liverpool, New South Wales) and Mary Jane Allan (b1888 in Sydney, New South Wales). Dick (a Bricklayer) and Mary married in 1904 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family. Dick played Rugby League for Western Suburbas and Glebe, and served in the AIF (Private; Service No:4862) in WWI. Dick worked as a Bricklayer.

Clem was a Bricklayer in Sydney in 1935 when he married Doris Catherine Fuller (b1904 in Sydney, New South Wales) - Doris was working in Sydney as an Overlocker. Clem and Doris settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Clem was a Bricklayer and Builder in partnership (Moroney & Hinchcliffe). Doris died in 1975 and Clem in 1980.
