Major William Frame (Service No:VX8997) enlisted in the Australian Army on 4 December 1939 and was attached to 2/15th Field Coy on 26 October 1944 when he was Mentioned in Dispatches 'For exceptional service in the Field in New Guinea' (London Gazette 8 March 1945; Commonwealth of Australia Gazette 15 March 1945). Major Frame discharged on 1 October 1945. He had previously served in the Militia (Private; Service No:45351) with 39th Fortress Coy RAE from 20 November 1929 to 21 July 1930.
Born in 1911 in Melbourne Victoria, William Albert (aka Albert Herman) was the youngest of two children of Otto Frame (b1884 in Adelaide, South Australia) and Kathleen (Cathy) Heather Green (b1883 in Melbourne, Victoria). Otto (a Clerk) and Cathy married in 1906 in Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their children and Otto worked as a Clerk, Manager and Accountant.
William (who appears variously in official records as Albert, Herman and William) studied Engineering and was an Engineer when he enlisted in 1939. In 1940 in Melbourne, Victoria he married Audree Marcelle Crook (b1910 in Paris, France) - Audree was a Masseuse (1931 Diploma from Masseurs' Registration Board of Victoria) and had arrived in Melbourne in 1911 with her parents. William and Audree settled in Melbourne, Victoria where William was an Engineer and Audree a Masseuse. William died in 1952 and Audree in 1967.
