Frank Haggar BLADES was born in The Strand, London in 1880

His parents were Richard BLADES & Ellen LEWIS

He married Harriet Carrie DAVIS in England in 1905 (registered in Edmonton) - 4 known children, Frank, Charles, Jeffrey & Betty

He enlisted in Perth, Western Australia on 19th December, 1916 and embarked from Fremantle, WA on the HMAT Miltiades on 29th January 1917 with the Railway Unit of the AIF

He returned to Australia on the ship Balmoral Castle and was discharged on 10th April, 1918

His last rank was Sapper with the 59th Australian Railway Operating Corp. (AROD)

Frank died of Heart Failure in Perth on 17th January, 1921 and is buried in the Anglican Section of Karrakatta Cemetery

His son Frank Sydney BLADES (SN 16572) served in the Air Force during WW2 and was discharged in 1948
