Son of Philip O'Rourke and Norah O'Rourke nee Dwyer of Cygnet, Tasmania.

Brother of John Douglas O'Rourke who was killed in action on 5 April 1917 while serving with the 49th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial

Commenced return to Australia on 5 January 1920 aboard HT Cape Verde disembarking on 26 February 1920 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart
