Sapper Frank Oswald Herd (Service No:V63751) served in the ACMF from 30 September 1940 to 17 July 1942 and was attached to 54th Field Park Coy RAE at Discharge. Siblings Jack and Murray also served in WWII.

Frank was born in Geelong, Victoria in 1918, fourth of nine children of Francis (Frank) Oswald Herd Snr (b1882 in Geelong, Victoria) and Maud Cecelia Lamb (b1883 in Geelong, Victoria). Frank Snr (a Dealer) and Maud married in 1913 in Geelong, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Frank Snr worked as a Dealer.

Frank worked as an Export Lamb Buyer in Geelong, where in 1942 he married Joan Martha Reedman (b1921 in Melbourne, Victoria). Following Joan's death in 1943, Frank was a Buyer in Geelong where he remarried in 1952 to Margaret Isabel Wallace (b1928 in Geelong, Victoria). Frank and Margaret lived in Geelong where Frank worked as a Wholesaler. Frank died in 1992 and Margaret in 2010.
