Private Arthur Bromley (Service No:VX73459) enlisted in the AIF on 27 January 1942 as a Craftsman with LHQ Signals - Special Wireless Group (Electrician). Private Bromley served in Morotai and Balikapan (2 June 1945 - 4 February 1946) and was a Craftsman attached to 2/6 Field Ambulance at Discharge on 1 March 1946.
Youngest of six children, Arthur was born in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1915 to William Patrick Bromley (b1875 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Ann (Annie) Wells (b1881 at Barrys Reef via Blackwood, Victoria). William (a Labourer) and Annie married in 1898 in Fremantle, where they settled and raised their family and William was a Labourer and Cordial Maker. In the mid 1920s William and Annie moved their family to Muckinbudin via Toodyay, where William was a Farmer. In the early 1930s they relocated to Melbourne, where William worked as a Labourer before moving to Sydney in the mid 1940s, where he was a Traveller.
Arthur was a Confectioner in Melbourne in 1938 when he married Irene Emily Neville (nee Cockbill; b1917 in Melbourne, Victoria). Following Arthur's Discharge from the Army, he and Irene settled at Diamond Creek in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Arthur was a Presser. Irene died in 1962 and Arthur in 1985.
