Corporal Brian Allen Webster (Service Nos:T19332/TX12303) served with 12th Field Ambulance, initially in the ACMF as a Private (15 December 1941 - 23 November 1942) - appointed Cook - before enlisting in the AIF on 24 November 1942. Corporal Webster served in Darwin NT (5 May 1943 - 2 August 1945) and was Discharged on 31 October 1945.
Brian was born in Campbell Town, Tasmania in 1917, youngest of four children of Charles Robert Webster (b1885 in Oatlands, Tasmania) and Hester May Phillips (b1881 in Campbell Town, Tasmania). Charles (a Police Constable; No:55) and Hester married in Hobart abt 1907, and lived there, and in Tunbridge via Oatlands and New Town, where Charles was a Police Constable/Trooper and, in 1917 was also appointed Inspector of Stock. Charles retired from the Police Force in the early 1920s, and the family settled in Moonah where Charles was a Labourer.
Brian was working in Moonah as a Skin Classer in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army. In 1943 in Hobart he married Eleanor (Ellie) Wilhelmina Jackman (b1913 in Launceston, Tasmania) - Ellie was a Corporal in the AWAS; Service No:TF16402) and also sister of his older brother's wife Gertie. Following Discharge from the Army, Brian and Ellie settled in Moonah, where they raised their family and Brian worked as a Skin Classer. Brian died in 1987 and Ellie in 2002.
