Sergeant Brian Leonard Broderick (Service Nos:T22739/TX11589) served with 12th Field Ambulance in the ACMF (Private; 15 December 1941 - 30 August 1942) before transferring to the AIF on 31 August 1942. Sergeant Broderick served in Darwin, NT (1 July 1942 - 11 January 1946), and was attached to 12th Field Ambulance at Discharge on 11 January 1946.

Born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1920, Brian (Bryon aka Darby) was youngest of five children of William James Broderick (b1875 in Buckland, Tasmania) and Mary Ann Brown (b1880 in Richmond, Tasmania). Both William and Mary were working in Buckland (William was a Labourer and Mary a Domestic Servant) in 1906 when they married in Hobart. William and Mary settled in Hobart, where they raised their family and William worked as a Cell Inspector and Labourer with the Electrolyte Zinc Coy.

Darby was working as a Steward in Moonah when he enlisted in the Army in 1941. Following his Discharge, he returned to Tasmania and work as a Steward. In 1949 in Hobart, Darby married Winifred (Win) Mary Scott (b1921 in Hobart, Tasmania) - Win was working as a Telephonist. Darby and Win settled in Glenorchy, where they raised their family and Darby worked as a Storeman and Leading Hand/Fitter. Darby died in 1989 and Win in 2016.
