Private Ernest Joseph Brady (Service No:WX6898) enlisted in the Army on 30 July 1940 and served with 2nd/7th Field Ambulance in the Middle East (16 April 1941 - 28 March 1942), the Northern Territory - 60 Mile (10 June 1942) and New Guinea (19 November 1944 - 6 December 1945). Private Brady Discharged on 18 December 1945. Siblings Alfred, Neil and Bill, and wife Daphne Peters also served in WWII.
Born in 1916 in Greenough WA, Ernest was the third of twelve children of William George Brady (b1882 in Dongara, WA) and Hannah Maud Brandis (b1895 in Greenough, WA). William (a Labourer) and Hannah married in 1913 in Dongara, WA and lived in Greenough, where William was a Farm Hand before settling in Midland Junction in the 1920s. William worked as a Labourer and Fuel Man.
Ernest was working as a Labourer in Midland Junction in the 1930s and in 1943 in Midland Junction married Daphne Peters (b1919 in Geraldton, WA) - Daphne was serving in the AWAS. Ernest and Daphne settled in Midland Junction where Ernest worked as a Labourer before becoming a Railway Worker (Fitter's Assistant) with WAGR. Daphne died in 1968 and Ernest in 1993.
