Corporal Patrick Mackie (Service No:VX28023) enlisted in the AIF on 18 June 1940 as a Private and served with 2/11th Field Regiment in the Middle East (10 April 1941 - 19 April 1942) and New Guinea/Bougainville (2 January 1945 - 10 October 1945). Promoted to Corporal in March 1945, he was attached to 2/11 Field Regiment at Discharge on 26 October 1945.

Paddy was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1920, seventh of nine children of Thomas Lawrence Mackie (b1873 in Murchison, Victoria) and Margaret Lillian Madigan (b1883 in Melbourne, Victoria. Thomas was a Labourer in Echuca and Margaret a Presser in Melbourne when they married in 1908. Thomas and Margaret lived in Echuca where Thomas was a Farmer until 1914 when they moved to Melbourne where Thomas worked as a Labourer and Railway Employee.

Paddy was a Welder in Melbourne when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge he returned to Melbourne where he worked as a Labourer and Boilermaker. Paddy died in 1994.
