Private Ralph Kenneth James Henshaw (Service No:VX119792) enlisted in the Australian Army 'in the Field" in New Guinea on 17 November 1942. He was attached to 2/3 Field Regiment when he was Discharged on 17 January 1946. Sibling Raymond also served in WWII in New Guinea and father Melville and Uncles Ralph and Clifford served in WWI.
Born in 1921 in Melbourne Victoria, Ralph was the second of three children of Melville John Stanley Henshaw (b1891 in Zeehan, TAsmania) and Ruby Tucker (b1895 in Emu Bay, Tasmania). Melville (a Labourer) and Ruby married in Melbourne in 1920. Melville had served in WWI (Private; Service No:3399). Melville and Ruby settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Melville worked as a Conductor.
Following his service in WWII, Ralph was a Storeman in Melbourne in 1946 when he married Lily Florence May Woodward (b1923 in Queenstown, Tasmania). Ralph and Lily settled in Melbourne where Ralph worked as a Storeman and Driver. Lily died in 1988 and Ralph in 2002.
