Embarkation Roll (www.awm.gov.au) shows Surname spelled BERZEN - Service Record (recordsearch.naa.gov.au) shows spelling as BERZIN

Russian born sailor, George Berzin had arrived in Australia from South America on 22 Dec 1911 and resided at Broken Hill, NSW, Yorketown, S.A, and Port Pirie, S.A. He was Naturalized on 04 Jan 1915 and then enlisted with the A.I.F. at Adelaide within days.  

"THE LATE LANCE CORPORAL GEORGE BERZIN.

News has been received that Lance-Corporal George Berzin was killed in action in France on August 4. He left Adelaide on May 31. Before enlisting he was at Port Pirie. He was 23 years of age and was a native of Russia." - from the Adelaide Advertiser 03 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
