George was born 17 July 1897 at Birrigurra, the son of George Dougal Allan and his wife Isabella Somerville Thompson.

In 1923 George married Lulu-Ivy Ann [Lul] Bucher and they were to have three children, Ian, Margaret and Yvonne.

In the 1931 Electoral Rolls, George a Clerk and Lulu were living at 13 John Street in Malvern East, then in 1937 George now a Curator and Lul were living at 306 then Avenue in  Parkville and from 1942 till 1954 George was still a Curator and they were living at 28 Appleby Cresent in Brunswick West.

As V91290 George Enlisted 9 December 1940, his occupation is given as a Sports Ground Curator and had previously served with 6th A G A [Vict Forts].
George, Curator Railway Sports as V17871 he joined 25 July 1941 at Royal Park with the Army Pay Corps. When he was discharged as Medically unfit [Auriculas Fibrillation] on 16  November 1944], he had served 914 days in Australia at Royal Park, Melbourne and Heidelberg. He had been working at 3 Districts Accounts Office when he was discharged.

He died 13 June 1964 at Ringwood and was buried in the family grave at the Brighton Cemetery at Presbyterian S Grave 94.
