Private Albert Alfred Austin (Service No:T21770) enlisted in the ACMF on 24 March 1941 and served with 30 Garrison Battalion until Discharge on 24 February 1943.

Tom was born in 1907 at Scottsdale in Tasmania, the eldest of six children of George (Bill) Alfred William Austin (b1879 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Clara Elizabeth Carey (b1881 at Ringarooma, Tasmania). Bill (a Labourer) and Clara married in 1906 in Scottsdale, Tasmania where they settled and raised their family and Bill worked as a Labourer.

Tom worked as a Labourer in Scottsdale before and after his service in WWII. From the 1950s he was a Timber Worker and a Paper Worker in Scottsdale until the late 1960's. Tom was in South Australia when he died in 1973.
