One of four brothers who served in WWII, Private James Henry Turner (Service Nos:W31485/W70566) served in the ACMF with 19 Garrison Battalion VDC from 24 August 1941 (PTD).
Jamesy was born in Busselton, Western Australia in 1912, eldest of seven children of Frederick Henry Turner (b1885 at Goodward Saw Mill, Lockville, Western Australia) and Fanny Shortland (b1888 in Greta, New South Wales). Frederick (a Butcher) and Fanny ( a Dressmaker in Perth) married in 1911 in Capel, where they settled and raised their family and Frederick was a Butcher and Farmer.
Jamesy worked as a Butcher in Capel where, in 1936, he married Lily (Lil) Vicery (b1914 in Perth, Western Australia). Jamesy and Lil settled at Capel, where they raised their family and Jamesy worked as a Butcher and Driller. Jamesy died in 2005 and Lil in 2012.
