Second of three brothers who served in WWII (Adam, Keith and William), Lieutenant Keith Charles Forsyth (Service Nos:525140/NX40937) initially served in the Militia (7 September 1939 - 8 July 1940) with 54th Battalion before enlisting in the AIF on 9 July 1940 as a Lance Corporal with 7th Battalion. On 4 September 1941 he was promoted to Lieutenant with 2nd/5th Field Regiment, and in 1943 tranferred to 8th Australian Field Regiment. Lieutenant Forsyth served in New Guinea and New Britain (6 January 1944 - 6 January 1945), and was attached to 2nd/14th Field Regiment at Termination of Appointment on 18 February 1946.
Keith was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1917, second of three children of William Stanley Forsyth (b1888 in Cooma, New South Wales) and Edna Alice Lark (b1893 in Sydney, New South Wales). William (an Auditor) and Edna married in 1914 in Sydney, where they lived before moving to Armidale in the early 1920s. William was a Chartered Accountant and Local Government Auditor (a partner in Vigars & Sky Chartered Accountants) before establishing his own firm. William had almost four decades of military service - starting in 1906 when he enlisted in the Militia with Garrison Artillery as a Gunner. In WWI he served with Garrison Artillery - Coast Defences, and in 1927 was appointed Commander of the new 33rd/41st Battalion formed in Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah and Quirindi. Lieutenant Colonel Forsyth was attached to the Duke of Wellington's Regiment in the Aldershot Command whilst visiting England, and served in the Army in WWII. William was Chairman of the Armidale State Electorate ACP, the Armidale Legacy Contact Group and the Local Government Auditors' Association of New South Wales, and President of the Armidale Literary Institute.
Keith was a Commonwealth Bank Offical (and a Justice of the Peace) in Molong, New South Wales when he enlisted in the Army in 1939. Following his Discharge, Keith settled in Armidale, where he lived with his parents and worked as a Clerk until retirement. Keith died in 1992.
