Leonard was the son of Harry Leonard Peters and Annie Neill, Como, Redcliffe. He enlisted July 1915. After the war Leonard was unfit to work as a blacksmith as a result of his injuries. He lived with his family at Redcliffe where he was well known as a motor car proprietor. Older brother, John George, enlisted under the surname of Petersen [525]

Mr. Leonard Peters

The death occurred on Tuesday morning last, November 17, at the resicence of his parents, Sutton Street, Redcliffe, of Mr. Leonard Peters, age 38 third son of Mr and Mrs H.L. Peters.  Deceased was born in Red Hill, Brisbane.  His childhood and youth was spent in Ipswich, whire he attened the North Ipswich Schoo.  He learned the trade of blacksmith, and was employed in taht capacity for several years by Messrs McKenzie and Holland (Northgate, Brisbane).  He was twice wounded during the war.  He was unable for health reasons, to take up his old occupation after the war.  For the past eleven years Mr. Peters has resided with his family in Redcliffe, where he was well known as a motor car proprietor.  Deceased was a member of the Masonic Order, and took a keen interest in the affairs of the local sub branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A.  He is survived by his parents, two sisters - Mrs. Frank Surman (North Ipswich) and Nurse Jessie Peters (Diamantina Hospital, Brisbane) - Mr. James Peters (Ipswich).

The funeral took place on Wednesday, and was largely attened.  The Rev. R.J. Taudevin conducted services in the house and at the graveside.  Six returned men acted as pall bearers.
