Eldest of three brothers who served in WWII (Baden, Clement and Walter), Private Baden James Loring (Service No:T31105) enlisted in the ACMF on 5 February 1942. Private Loring served with 30 Garrison Battalion and 24 Employment Coy, and was attached to 30 Garrison Battalion at Discharge on 28 September 1943 (Medically Unfit).

Baden was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1900, eldest of seven children of Clements (Clem) James Thomas Loring (b1876 in Hobart, Tasmania) and Florence Mary Lyons (b1880 in Hobart, Tasmania). Clem and Florence married in 1900 in Hobart, where they settled and raised their family and Clem worked as a Labourer.

Baden started work as a Gardener, and in 1925 in Hobart married Cassie Agnes Smith (b1905 in Hobart, Tasmania). Baden and Cassie settled in New Town, Hobart where they raised their family and Baden worked as a Labourer until his death in 1963. Cassie died in 1972.
