Private Arthur Edwin Heazlewood (Service No:T17876) enlisted in the ACMF on 23 August 1940 and was attached to 6 Garrison Battalion when he was Discharged on 20 October 1947.
Arthur was born in 1920 in Ulverstone Tasmania, the eldest of five children of Edwin Arthur Heazlewood (b1895 in Ulverstone, Tasmania) and Alice Pearl Pearce (b1897 in Ulverstone, Tasmania). Edwin was a Farm Labourer at Upper Castra and enlisted in the AIF on 4 October 1916 (Service No:T4268) but was Discharged as Medically Unfit. In 1918 at Ulverstone, Edwin and Alice married and remained in Upper Castra where Edwin was a Farm Labourer until the early 1920s when they moved to Table Cape where Edwin was a Lorry Driver. In the 1930s the family relocated to Kentish where Edwin worked as a Motor Driver before settling in Scottsdale in the early 1940s where Edwin was a Linesman.
Arthur was working as a Draper in Sheffield, Tasmania in 1940 when he enlisted in the ACMF and in 1941 he married Irene Estelle Padfield (b1919 at Sheffield, Tasmania). Arthur and Irene settled in Ringaroona where Arthur was a Draper and in the 1950s stood for election to the Municipal Council. The couple retired to Devonport where Irene died in 1987 and Arthur in 1989.
