IN LOVING MEMORY OF CLETE

Lieutenant R. A. NELSON, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Nelson, of Murray Bridge, died of wounds on November 7. The deceased soldier was one of three brothers who enlisted, another brother, Mick, being now on his way back to Australia, suffering from shell shock. He was born at Olary on July 11, 1893, educated at the Terowie and Petersburg schools, and later entered the Railway service, and occupied the position of fireman until he enlisted in July, 1915. He was promoted corporal and sailed from Australia on January 11, 1916, for Egypt, leaving there for France with the first batch of Australians. The deceased officer was promoted sergeant, and was wounded on November 17, 1916, and his injuries necessitated nine operations on the foot.
