He left a widow Jean Nicoll, Bardon Drive, Paddington, Brisbane, Queensland, and one child. She lived sometime at Wolsley Street, Paddington, Brisbane, Queensland.
He served 10 years with the Black Watch Regiment, British Army, including time in the South African War, holding two medals with seven bars. and with the Brisbane military police. He was 44.

Dundee paid a high price for her war efforts. By the armistice, over 4,000 men and several women had made the ultimate sacrifice. Their names are recorded in the city’s Roll of Honour
