Narrabri, New South Wales lost its last link to World War II with the passing of Arthur James Wells on Saturday, 21 September 2024 at the age of 97.
Arthur Wells enlisted on 22 January 1945 at 18-years-old, in the 2/1 Australian Guard Regiment. He served a total of 1011 days in the army with 569 days overseas as part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force in Japan following the ceasation of hosilities.
NX205623 Lance Corporal Arthur James Wells was discharge on 29 October 1947.
Arthur Wells was a regular attendee at Anzac Day services and other RSL commemorative activities. His commitment to the Narrabri RSL Sub-branch was recognised with presentation of a service medallion in early 2024.
