He was the son of James and Rosa Cole. In 1881 they lived at 20 Balmoral Road, Aberdeen Street, Nottingham.

His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales 23/12/1916 aboard HMAT A64 Demosthenes.

He died post-discharge and was accepted for commemoration as war dead on 21/06/2014.
