Add my storyBiography contributed by Kaye Lally
John Downie Stewart was known as Jock.
He had a chequered history in both civilian and militaty life. Hi
He served in the NZ Army in WW1.
He enlisted in the Australian army in WWII on 18 June 1940, giving his birth year as 1895 when in fact it was 1888. He was discharged on 28 March 1941. Whether the Army realised his age or whether he had continued his habit of 'acquiring' items that were not his will only be revealed from his full military record.
I have yet to find his date and place of death.
He was my mother's maternal uncle.
