Private John Patrick Leamey (Service No:T10917) enlisted in the ACMF at Glenorchy, Tasmania on 20 August 1940 with 40 Battalion and transferred to 6 Garrison Battalion for Discharge on 24 December 1941 (Medically Unfit).

Jack was born in Oatlands, Tasmania in 1917, third of four children of John Patrick Leamey (b1870 in County Clare, ireland) and Anna (Betty) Maria Barbara Munch (b1879 in Mainz, Germany). John was a Farmer's son in Ireland, and by 1913 was a Farmer in Oatlands, Tasmania when he and Betty married in Tunnack - Betty immigrated in October 1905, arriving in Melbourne on board the Barbarassa and travelling on to Hobart in December on board the Westralia. John and Betty settled in Oatlands where they raised their family and John was a Farmer. Following John's death in 1936 in Ireland on a visit home, Betty lived in Franklin before moving to Adelaide, South Australia.

Jack worked as a Factory Employee and Confectioner in Franklin, and in 1945 in Hobart, he married Veronica (Viv) Mary Burkett (b1919 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Viv worked as a Clerk in Melbourne. Jack and Viv settled in Wilmot, Tasmania where they raised their family and Jack worked as a Foreman and Cartage Contractor, They were living in Hobart in the 1960s, where Jack worked as a Driver before their Divorce. Viv moved to Melbourne where she died in 1987. Jack remarried in 1970 in Hobart to Zoe Fay Barton-Johnson (b1925 at Sandy Bay, Tasmania) - Zoe, a Divorcee, was working in Hobart as State Secretary. Jack died in 2003 and Zoe in 2012.
