Add my storyBiography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon
Alexander was born in Knockando in Morayshire, Scotland although at the time, the Highlands of Scotland were usually referred to as North Britain. His father, A. McKinnon lived at Brown Hills, Pitglassie, and his sister, Mary, was known to have worked during the Great War at Aldershot Military Hospital, England.. Knockando (Scottish Gaelic: Cnoc Cheannachd) is a farming centre and the location of both the world-famous Knockando distillery and the Tamdhu distillery.
It is also the location of Knockando Wool Mill, which has been producing textiles since 1784
Alexander had served a 3 year apprenticeship as a coppersmith with Willison Bothers and he had also served in the army and as a constable with the naval police in South Australia.
