'For his energy, reliability and devotion to Duty during the operations in the vicinity of the Somme extending over the past six months. This Non Commissioned Officer has rendered very efficient service as Orderly Room Sergeant in connection with the preparation of orders for battle - his duties on many occasions involving strenuous work over long periods without rest. He has never spared himself in carrying out his arduous duties.'
