Both John and Louisa had been living in Kalgoorlie before they married in 1915. Jack worked in Perth as a Shop Assistant and as a Bread Carter for Peerless Bakery. In 1940 when he enlisted in the Army, he was working as a Steward, and in Perth in 1941 in Fremantle Jack married Imelda (Mel) Carmel James (b1916 in Fremantle, Western Australia) - Mel worked as a Salesgirl at Aherns. Following his Discharge, Jack and Mel lived in Fremantle and Perth, where Jack worked as a Steward and Labourer. In the 1950s the family lived at Shannon River via Manjimup, where Jack was Club Manager, before returning to Perth (Gosnells then Mt Hawthorn) and Jack was a Masonry Worker and Salesman.
