The Rev. J. A. Ford, B.A., B.D., the popular pastor of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, has been appointed chaplain of Scot's College, Sydney, and will leave for his new post at the end of January. Mr. Ford was recently nominated for the position of Moderator of the State Assembly for 1923-4. He is a native of Melbourne. He took first place in philosophy, psychology, and ethics in his B.A. course at the Adelaide University. Prior to accepting a callto the Mount Pleasant and South Rhine Churches he had charge of the churches at Murray Bridge and Monarto.

Appointed to the AIF on 16 October 1918.

Embarked from Adelaide on HMAT A36 Boonah on 22 October 1918. Disembarked Adelaide 20 December 1918. 

Re-embarked from Melbourne, Victoria 5 March 1919 on HMAT A32 Themistocles.

Minister at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church and living at the manse when he enlisted.

Only received a few days notice of his embarkation from military authorities, and 'that his services would be required for transport duty for some months'.

Returned Australia 4 November 1919 and position terminated 22 November 1919.

Commemorated on Mount Pleasant Soldiers' Memorial Hall Honor Board and Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church Honor Board.
