Sergeant Victor Arthur Davis (Service No:NX84489) enlisted in the AIF on 19 January 1942 as a Private with General Details Depot and 5 Training Battalion, and was attached to 3 Anti Aircraft Battery when he was promoted to Bombadier on 19 September 1942. Bombardier Davis served with 475 Heavy Anti Aircrft Battery in the South West Pacific (Milne Bay, Lae, Madang, Emirau Island, Torokina, Bougainville) through 1943/1945, and was attached to 475 Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery at Discharge on 21 December 1945.

Victor was born in Sydney, New South Wales (NSW BDM:Registration No:13510/1920) in 1920, only child of Arthur Hayes (aka Arthur Frederick Hais, Leslie Frederick Arthur and Arthur Leslie Davis; b1891 in Allora, QLD) and his second wife Margaret Josephine Duffy (b1883 in Ballarat, Victoria). Arthur had discharged from the Army (Service No:4520) in Melbourne, where he remained and married Margaret in 1920. Arthur and Margaret moved to Sydney, where Arthur worked as a Labourer, and remarried following Margaret's death in 1922.

Victor was a Rubber Worker in 1940 when he married his first wife Alice Lucy Winter (b1920 in Sydney, New South Wales) - they divorced in 1946. Following his Discharge from the Army, Victor was working as a Labourer in Sydney, where in 1953 he remarried to Grace Esme Gawthorne (b1930 in Kelso, New South Wales). Victor and Grace settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Victor was a Tool Setter. Both Victor and Grace died in 1997 - Grace in July and Victor in August.
