Private Lindsay Gordon Lakey (Service No:V508356) served in the ACMF with 23 Infantry Training Battalion from 2 April 1943 to 12 June 1943. Private Lakey was one of four brothers - Bill, Percy and Walter - who served in WWII.

Lindsay (aka Gordon) was born at Welshman's Reef via Maldon, Victoria in 1913, second of nine children of William Lakey (b1887 in Bradford, Victoria) and Selina Lock (b1892 in Gowar via Maldon, Victoria). William (a Labourer) and Selina married in 1907 in Newstead via Castlemaine and settled at Welshman's Reef, where they raised their family and William was a Labourer. By 1919 William and Selina had settled at Newstead via Castlemaine, where William was a Woodcutter before moving to Maldon, where William worked as a Miner with two of his sons at the Old Union Mine.

Lindsay (aka as Gordon) worked as a Miner in Maldon where, in 1936 he married Jean Tatt (b1919 in Maldon, Victoria). Lindsay and Jean settled in Maldon, where they raised their family and Lindsay worked as a Miner. In the early 1950s Lindsay and Jean moved to Castlemaine, where Lindsay worked as a Wardsman until retirement. Lindsay died in 1991 and Jean in 2012.
