On enlisting Charles lived at 44 Ifould Street, Adelaide, SA.

He was described on enlisting as 21 years of age; single;

"THE LATE PRIVATE C. R. ZIMMERMANN.

Mr. J. G. Zimmermann, late of Ifould-street and now of Ackland-street, Adelaide, has received news that his youngest son, Private Charles R. Zimmermann, and only brother of Mr. F. W. Zimmermann, died of wounds in France on July 23. Prior to enlisting Private Zimmermann was employed by Messrs. Fearn & Co.
