Personal Stories
Monto: My Grandfather's Horse
My Mother, Velijo Dawn Winter was one of Edmund's three daughters. Margaret and Patricia Winter being the other two. Prior to enlisting Edmund served as a Police Officer in various parts of NSW including Temora (where my Mother was born). His wife was Offa Ormsby Maitland from New Zealand. My Mother told us that his favourite horse was called Monto. We have very little by way of photographs or family records on my Australian Grandfather.
