Ralph taught at Hale School, one of Perth's leading private colleges, in the 1930's. He is remembered in 2003 by one of his students, Dr John Craig, as, "...a great example: neat, precise and courteous but definite - the cuts on the fingers a never-to-be-forgotten exercise. His future military and legal fame, I presume all know of..."
