The Minmi Roll of Honour has 78 names inscribed of those who returned home from The Great War.

The 62nd name inscribed is Private Thomas Etheridge Jnr.

On the Monday afternoon of the 26th November 1945, Private Thomas Etheridge Jnr, 34th Battalion (Reg No-2062), labourer from Main Street, Minmi, New South Wales and Church Street, Minmi, N.S.W., father of five (Tom, Jack, Edie, Dolly, Charlie), was laid to rest at Minmi Cemetery, N.S.W., age 57 years 1 month. Left Hand Side, Section 28, Plot 026.

ETHERIDGE Thomas, Funeral notice, 26th NOV 1945, late of Minmi, Newcastle Herald, 26th NOV 1945.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A68 Anchises on the 24th August 1916.

Disembarked Devonport, England 11.10.1916.

Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 21.11.1916.

Granted leave to England from 14.1.1918 to 30.1.1918 and 12.12.1918 to 27.12.1918.

Admitted to hospital 25.11.1918 (influenza and bronchopneumonia).

Commenced return to Australia 17.3.1919.

Tom arrived home on the 30th April 1919, being discharged on the 10th June 1919.

Service record states Died after Discharge, 25/11/1945.

Plaque in New South Wales Garden of Remembrance.

I have placed poppies at Tom’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
