No.1974 Private Edward Lakovsky, 10th Battalion, was born in Uzova, South Russia, the son of Thomas and Pasha nee Shaeffer, before moving to Sydney and Broken Hill. Edward was a labourer at the time of his attestation on 14 January 1915 in Oaklands, South Australia, and served in the Middle East before being discharged on medical grounds. He returned to Australia aboard the Wiltshire on 31 of June 1915. He married Hilda Hooper in Melbourne on 15 December 1917. Edward died in Victoria in 1977.
