Craftsman Aubrey Edwin Santley (Service No:V316492) initially served in the ACMF as a Private (Clerk) attached to Area 58 Staff from 6 March 1942 to 30 June 1947. Craftsman Santley re-enlisted in the Interim Army on 1 July 194, and was attached to 3 Military District Recruit Reception & General Details Depot (MD RR&GDD) at Discharge on 2 June 1948.

Aubrey was born in Foster, Gippsland, Victoria in 1908, eldest of four children of Edwin Albert Santley (b1884 at Alberton via Yarram, Victoria) and his first wife Emma Olivia Lundstrom (b1887 in Solberga, Sweden). Edwin (a Farmer) and Emma married in 1907 in Foster, settling in the Gippsland region - Foster and Baulkamaugh via Numurkah - where they raised their family and Edwin was a Farmer. By 1919 the family had settled in Melbourne, where Edwin was a Labourer. Following Emma's death in 1924, Edwin remarried in 1933 to Hilda Mary Adeline Gourley (b1891 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Hilda was a Teacher in Melbourne.

Aubrey worked as a Clerk for Univeral Guarantee Pty Ltd in Melbourne where, in 1935 he married Rita Helena Carstensen (b1910 in Ballarat, Victoria) - Rita was a Saleswoman in Melbourne. Aubrey and Rita settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Aubrey worked as a Clerk and Agent. Aubrey died in 1986 and Rita in 1996.
