Son of Oscar Arthur Valentin and Charlotte Valentin of Orchard Street, Croydon, NSW. Brother of Wilfred Vincent Valentin who returned to Australia on 10 April 1917 having served with the 1st Field Artillery Brigade & 1st Divisional Ammunition Colum

Husband of Bessie Valentin nee Adams of Brixton, England. Alfred and Bessie married 29 September 1916 in Epsom, Surrey, England

Commenced return to Australia on 8 April 1919 aboard HT Trasos Montes disembarking on 22 May 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
