Corporal Sydney Uden Erickson (Service No:W73195) enlisted in the ACMF at Northam, WA on 16 April 1942 as a Private with 9 Northam Battalion (WA) VDC. Corporal Erickson was Discharged on 15 October 1945.

Syd was born at Broad Arrow, WA in 1908, fourth of five children of Johannes (John) Erickson (b1867 in Stockholm, Sweden) and Christina (Chrissie) Melville (b1869 at Upper Sturt, South Australia). John arrived in Melbourne, Victoria in 1886 on board the Beaconsfield and was in South Australia in 1898 when he and Chrissie married at Rosewater. By 1903 they had moved to Western Australia, living in Kalgoorlie and Broad Arrow, where they raised their family and John was a Miner. By the early 1920s John and Chrissie had settled in Fremantle, WA and John gave his occupation as Prospector.

Syd was a Selector at Bolgart via Toodyay in 1936 when he married Fredericka (Rica) Lucy Sandilands (b1908 in Boulder, WA) - Syd and Rica married in Fremantle. Rica was a Teacher in regional WA - Aurora, Young's Siding, Denmark and in 1934 at Bolgart. Syd and Rica settled at Bolgart via Toodyay where they raised their family and Syd was a Farmer. Rica (Dr Erickson) was a renowned naturalist, botanical artist, historian and author. In the late 1960s Syd and Rica moved to Perth where Syd died in 1987 and Rica in 2009.
